About the owner
Since 2010, I have worked as a professional editor to help authors clarify and polish their ideas to make a lasting impact.
I’ve always been interested in words and language and am passionate about expressing ideas through writing. As an editor I’m able to combine my love of language with important research in global health and other fields. After learning editing skills at PATH from 2001 to 2009, I loved it so much that I decided to make a career out of it. I enrolled in an editing certificate program at the University of Washington in 2010 and was on my way.
I launched Rainier Editing in early 2022 after my former business partnership, Tandem Editing, came to an end. My Tandem partners and I learned and grew together for several years as we navigated exciting projects and clients and ever-increasing workloads. Eventually we found our paths shifting in different directions and decided to offer our editing services separately. I am indebted to Kyra and Connie for their wisdom, expertise, and partnership.
Before my career as an editor, I worked at AED (now FHI 360) in Washington, DC, and PATH in Seattle, on multiple projects related to global health. At those jobs I learned about the project management side of global health work, such as developing proposals, negotiating contracts, providing oversight and administration of field work, arranging worldwide meetings and conferences, and reporting to donors. I also learned about the various steps involved in shepherding documents through the publication process—including conception, research, writing, revising, editing, finalizing, obtaining approvals, design and layout, printing, and finally, distribution. This knowledge has been invaluable to me as an editor.
